Forcing Users to Write a Log Message when Committing Work

The Zero Length Commit Hook allows you to ensure that users always describe the work they are committing.

How the Page Looks

  1. The active project is shown in the top left of the screen. Click on the down arrow to change the project you are setting up this hook for.
  2. You can Disable or Enable this hook for your active project. Disabling the hook will save the current settings for your active project until you re-enable them.
  3. Enter the minimum number of characters you will accept for a log message. The field will accept a numerical value between 1 and 999.
  4. The Warning Message is display to users who enter a message shorter than the number of characters you have entered in the Minimum Characters field.
  5. Click on Update Hook to save your settings.
